1. #MysterySkype - The global guessing game that gets kids learning with Skype. Mystery Skype is an educational game, invented by teachers, played by two classrooms on Skype. The aim of the game is to guess the location of the other classroom by asking each other questions. It's suitable for all age groups and can be used to teach subjects like geography, history, languages, mathematics and science. Youtube video (United States/Mexico example). There are teachers right now looking for classes to speak French with!
2. Using Google Maps in the Classroom - Students can navigate the streets of Montreal, New Orleans and Paris all at Streetview level!
3. Create a Twitter account for your classroom to connect with other teachers. This will build your professional learning network! Some great hashtags to search are #fsl, # francophones, #mfltwitteratti, #bilingual, #frimm and #frenchimm (french immersion), #fle, #french, #aimlang, #flteach . This can be a helpful sounding board when you're looking for an idea, or a certain expression or word. Example Tweet: "What is a traditional food from New Orleans that I could make with my students in class? #francophones #fsl" - Hopefully someone will reply!
4. Create a Twitter account for your FSL class(es) to connect with other FSL classes! Ask each other Qs back and forth, and post pictures of what your students are up to! Your students will become aware of different cultures and traditions.
